KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The No. 1-ranked Kutztown University field hockey team continued its historic season Saturday, rolling past Slippery Rock 7-0 at Andre Reed Stadium to celebrate Senior Day and Homecoming in style. The win marked KU’s 14th straight victory, extending its program-record unbeaten streak and setting two new single-season program records in the process.

The Bears’ (14-0, 6-0 PSAC) explosive offensive performance pushed them to 79 goals on the season, breaking the previous record of 73 set in 2005. Kutztown also set a new single-season assist record with 53, surpassing the 47 mark established in 2022.

Senior Erin Gonzalez (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) headlined the afternoon, scoring four goals to reach the 100-career-point milestone. With 45 career goals, she now ranks eighth all-time in program history, solidifying her place as one of KU’s most accomplished players.

Kutztown’s dominant first half set the tone, scoring three times in the opening quarter and twice more in the second. The Bears added one goal apiece in the third and fourth to complete the shutout.

Taylor Vaccaro (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) opened the scoring 6:46 into the first quarter, followed by tallies from Ellie Myers (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) and Marissa Rice (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), alongside Gonzalez’s four-goal performance. Senior Grace Harrold (York, Pa./Central York) dished out a season-high three assists, reaching 10 on the year, while Rachel Galasso (Sweet Valley, Pa./Lake Lehman), Olivia Vaccari (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), and Sierra Jester (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) each added helpers.

In goal, senior Alaina Telenko (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) made three saves to record the first win of her career. The shutout marked KU’s eighth of the season, ranking third-most in program history.

Kutztown completely controlled play, outshooting Slippery Rock (5-8, 1-5 PSAC) 29-6 and earning 19 penalty corners.

Prior to the game, the Bears honored a historic senior class—Gonzalez, Jester, Olivia Osborne (Atco, N.J./Hammonton), Vaccari, Harrold, and Telenko—along with student assistant Julia Schools and student staff member Dom Beecher. The group leaves behind a lasting legacy that includes the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championship and 2024 National Runner-Up finishes.

Kutztown now turns to a three-game road stretch, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Millersville for a 6 p.m. matchup.
